Last year, a few months after I did the whole jumping from corporate to freelance thing, I decided to buy a custom domain in my name even if I didn't have any immediate plans for it yet. I've read so many good things about this from several blogs that I decided to go for it. Actually it was more like I didn't want anybody else using my name for their website. LOL. And I was thinking I'll be able to use it WHEN I become a famous writer in the near future. Hah. Anyway, this year I finally decided to use it and set the domain as my official landing page. Ooh so official.
I'm planning to make it look more professional once I can afford to move to a self-hosted site, but for now I will have to be content with it looking like this blog. I was thinking these two sites of mine should at least look similar or related to each other, for image and branding purposes. Let's face it, image and branding is vital for freelancers like me. Who knows someday I'll be able to print my own business cards with my own personal logo on it. It's a good thing there are so many resources on the internet for such things like logos, business cards or marketing materials. I mean, you can design your brand, create your business cards, and even make posters online without paying a lot. You can simply design or make them online and order them to be printed out. I don't know if I'll make posters online any time in the near future, but I know designing and creating my own personal logo is something I can start thinking about as early as now. These online resources can be pretty useful. Check it out here if you're interested. You might find you want to try something on your own!
And, oh yeah, here's that "official" landing page I was talking about: me on the interwebs. What do you think?
