August Challenges

Happy August 2nd, folks! August 2nd is not really a thing, right? But it’s a new month and with it come some pretty interesting challenges for moi and some pretty exciting things I’m looking forward to. I have lots on my mind and on my plate for the month and I just wanted to share it with you. Yeah, I really should be working right now, but lemme just spout off these things, okay?

What August challenges I got myself into

As if doing my #100dayproject isn’t hard enough, I decided to do two new challenges this month – a journaling challenge and an Instagram challenge! I know it’s a lot, but I want to try, anyway.

I got the August journaling challenge from Aurora M. Suarez (@yourheartcraftedlife) and the Instagram challenge, also known as The August Break, from Susannah Conway (@susannahconway). The journaling thing entails, you know the usual, writing an entry everyday. You can write about anything or use the daily prompt provided. Same goes for the Instagram challenge – post a photo of anything or use the daily prompt.

These August challenges seem quite simple really if I can just remember to do them every day. Hah. Good luck to me! I don’t know if I can stick to them for the whole month. I just thought these things would be a little therapeutic for me right now.

Why I think I need something therapeutic

Well, it turns out, my knee is more banged up than I thought. I had an MRI last week and the results weren’t so good. They were probably the worst news I could expect from my kind of knee-related sports injury. The word “tear” appeared more than once. It’s that bad. The doctor recommended that I get it fixed – meaning, surgery. Yeah, we’re not really crazy about that, so I’m going to get a second opinion on Thursday. Just so, you know, I’ll know if I have other options or whatever.

One thing I’m pretty sure of though – I don’t think I can play anymore. Not for a long time, anyway, until I can get my knee back into some sort of playing shape. Hah. I’m not really messed up about that though. I’ll be quite messed up if I have to stop practicing yoga. THAT would be devastating for me, methinks.

Anyhoo, I’m positive that THAT won’t be the case. I just need to be more aware, mindful and careful when I practice so I don’t hurt my creaky old lady knee even further. We’ll see what the doctor says on Thursday.

What I’m really looking forward to this month

My soul sisters and I are having another girls getaway at the end of the month! That means a whole weekend with my girlfriends at a gorgeous beach. Can’t wait! Sometimes, we really just need some time with our girls, you know? Time away from the city and our hubbies and kids, so we can relax and recharge and come back more energized and more grateful about everything.

I’m also looking forward to watching some high level ultimate in the upcoming Asia Oceanic Ultimate and Guts Championships (AOUGC), which is happening in Manila for the first time. There will be teams from all over Asia and Oceania so it’s really going to be pretty exciting. Carpet Head’s playing so that’s also cool. It’s going to be cool, folks.

Aaaand that’s it.

What are you up to this month? Doing any August challenges?
