Theme song for those who need it

Finally got the words down but still don’t know the title and who sang it.

Super love this song. Super duper duper. I can just eat it if such a thing’s possible. Possible, no? Food for the besieged soul. Ulam for the sawi. Haha.

how can i break through

the closer i get the further away from you

why are you pulling away from me

i only want to comfort you and heal all your pain

take it all away

you must not know what you mean to me

so caught up inside til u set me free yeah

i want the whole world to dance with me

you altered my life now i’m brighter than before

i feel so much more

for so long you’ve been alone, needing to love, someone to hold

i wanna help you break through, find that essence of you

now that you’re here, don’t be afraid

take my hand, forever i’ll stay

let me show you what happy could be

gotta let go what’s keeping you so cold

been dragging yourself along your lonesome road

you’re not sure you held a loving hand

i should think that you don’t understand

don’t break down on me, don’t force me to leave

you are a part of my soul, but don’t you know yeah

came into your life to make you whole

already been planned to go where you have to go

you need to find your peace instead of fighting me

i could be your release

Reading is oh so cool.

Finally used my gift certificates from Powerbooks! Man, I could live there. Sigh.

The Last Temptation of Christ by Nikos Kazantzakis -> Been looking for this book since college. It was the first thing I saw when I entered Powerbooks Greenbelt. I think I almost shrieked. I’m so glad they made prints again. There’s also a Scorsese film version which I want to watch, but only after I read the book. In case you’re not familiar, it’s a novel which explores the humanity of Jesus Christ.

The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown -> Yes I know, everybody’s reading it. Usually I hate it when something becomes so popular that everybody does it (not that there’s anything wrong, it just annoys me). But this book’s about something I’m genuinely interested in. So there. I’m in the bandwagon.

Holy Blood, Holy Grail by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh and Henry Lincoln -> I eavesdropped on two gals talking in Powerbooks. One of them, who apparently was from CDO (yay! kababayan!), was telling the other about this book. It’s more of a research or documentary and would help a reader appreciate the Da Vinci Code better. Daw. But of course, got sold on what she was saying (she’s from CDO! yay!).

Notice anything with my choice of reading materials? Love this kind of stuff. Question question existence. Question how, question why. Keep the faith. La la la…

What’s up yer sleeve, 2005?

Apparently it is the year of the rooster. I was born in the year of the rooster. I don’t know how it could possibly matter what creature’s year it is, but, hey, if it means it’s THE year of the cock-a-doodle-doo, what the heck, then let it be that. Maybe this year will be better than the last. Now, don’t we all say that every year?

And with a new year are new to-do/to-be lists, eh? Random random list:

1. Eat right. Eat healthy. Or just eat.

2. Exercise, for cryin out loud.

3. Erase erase erase Mr. Issues man.

4. Call/text home more.

5. Call/text old friends more.

6. See old friends more.

7. Save money. Coz money makes the world go round. Otherwise you starve.

8. Be kinder, be nicer, be more patient.

9. Give more, love more.

10. Be thankful more.

11. Write more.

12. Cultivate your passion.

13. Find out what your passion really is.

14. Go to the beach more.

15. Save money for the beach.

16. Save money for trips home.

17. Love work more.

18. Find work that you’ll love more?

19. Think of more things for your list.

Mini Miniseries Special

(Very very short fantasy script woven out of this stress-saturated air)

Episode 1: F.F. means “For the Firm”
Scene 1: in the office (where else?), staff work area, one hour before lunch break

LEI (buried under dusty flipcharts on the floor beside her desk, gasping for breath) :
Must… find… answers… (gasp)… mommy…

RIC (happily typing away in her beat up Dell, maniacal grin on her face) :
Must organize files! Lookie! I have them all arranged chronologically!

TONY (pretending to be giving a presentation, making wild hip hop gestures) :
Yo wassup?! Load curtailment, fool! That is the question! Wassup, fool?! Wassup?!

RIC (turns to Tony, maniacal grin still on her face) :
My files! They’re bee-yoo-ti-ful!!

(then looks down at Lei, maniacal grin on her face even bigger) :
A structured filing system is the answer!!

LEI (fighting off flipcharts, not quite winning) :
No, it’s the end… must… find… notes… (gurgling sounds)

TONY (stares at RIC, his eyes suddenly large) :
It’s over! Workload analysis, fool! Wassup widjoo?! Wassup?!

ALDWIN (suddenly appears in the work area, jubilant smile on his face) :
Lunch time! Lunch time!

LEI, RIC and TONY jerk their heads in Aldwin’s direction, their eyes large.

Ten seconds of silence. Then black out.

Scene 2: in the office, staff work area, end of the day

LEI (sprawled on the floor beside her desk, strangled by flipcharts, body contorted in irregular angles, eyes wide open)

RIC (hand sticking out from the filing cabinet, a tab with her date of hiring and name taped on her pointer finger)

TONY (crouched under his desk amidst pages of activity charts, chewing on them slowly, giggling in between swallows)

Fade to black. Cue opening chords of Not An Addict by K’s Choice.
