Guilty pleasures

Gahhh I cannot stand the characters or the stories of these shows, but I cannot stop watching! LOL. Seriously, I find the characters a bit annoying, exaggerated and overly dramatic, but it’s like I have to see what silly and ridiculous things they get into. Haha.

Oh hello there, shoe crush.

I took the train today and there was a girl wearing maroon Doc Martens across from me. I thought they were perfect for the weather we’ve been having. My cold feet in my squishy wet flats agreed. I want. By the way, she was pretty, too, but I just wanted her shoes. I want boots.

Finally I’ve caught up with The Games

The Hunger Games, that is. Yes, yes, it’s been a gazillion years since the first book of this ever so popular trilogy came out and the second and third have been out for quite some time. I just finished The Hunger Games yesterday. Carpet Head was finally able to dig up his copy from somewhere so I was able to get a hold of it. Not bad. Very Battle Royale. I liked it. I love that the main character is a strong woman. I could’ve done without the lovey dovey parts between the two leads though, but I guess it was essential to the story. If you’ve read the book, you know what I mean.

So, the movie’s coming out in March next year. I would watch it for Jennifer Lawrence, who’s playing the heroine. She’s gorgeous. I think at first fans weren’t sure if she could do the role justice, but I think she can make it work. I mean, hello, Winter’s Bone. That role got her Oscar and Golden Globe nominations and several other film awards. I haven’t seen it but I trust the film critics on this one.

Tips on Organizing

This was a guest post I wrote for A Taste of T.

A few guest bloggers and I were filling in for T while she was busy moving so I thought I  just use this to share a few simple tips on organizing! I’ve moved around a few times and these are the few things I always try to remember. I can’t say I’ve followed them strictly but they’re a great guide. These tips are also useful even when you just want to fix or reorganize your room or a part of your apartment.

Last week I was and this week I am a classic sap

Been obsessed with Pride and Prejudice the whole of last week. I think I watched the movie five times. I’ve seen it before, but it never gets old. I just read the book, too. Eeeek. LOVE IT. I’m on a classic sap run so I wanna watch and read Sense and Sensibility, too. I’ve seen the movie version and I remember feeling the same way when I first saw Pride and Prejudice. Eeeek.
Don’t you just love the classics? :)

In other news, I won another giveaway! How about that! I’ve never been this lucky. I should hold my own giveaway soon. Tsk.

It’s been six days and I feel fine

I’ve been watching my usual favorites on the tube. ALL DAY. EVERYDAY. Been getting more than my usual fix of Criminal Minds, Law and Order SVU, NCIS, and Bones. Fox TV rules. Ahlavet.

I’ve also been trying to finish my current book, Angel Isle by Peter Dickinson, a teen fantasy book about magic and adventure. It’s the sequel to Dickinson’s The Ropemaker. Interesting stuff, but I can’t seem to finish it. I’m already thinking about what book to read next. I need more books!

I’ve caught a few music videos on Channel V and MTV.  It’s been a LONG LONG time since I’ve tuned in to these channels. Discovered that Zachary Levi of Chuck can sing. Holy cow. I’ve been living under a rock. Also realized that, yes, Justin Bieber really IS cute and very talented. I get it now.

Anyway, so there. I’ve been staying in mostly to avoid spending unnecessarily while I’m between jobs and also because I’ve been too lazy to get out.  But I think I’ll go hang out somewhere else one of these days or maybe go jogging or something. I don’t want to be too lethargic while I’m on this pseudo sabbatical.

Okay, that’s it. No bumming around outfit post ’cause I’m in really bummy clothes this time. Hah. Kthxbye!

Inspiration Monday: Noah’s Ark

Another day, another week. Here’s something I got from the mail. Read! Read!

Everything I need to know, I learned from Noah’s Ark .
ONE: Don’t miss the boat.
TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat!
THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark.
FOUR: Stay fit. When you’re 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
FIVE: Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
SIX: Build your future on high ground.
SEVEN: For safety’s sake, travel in pairs.
EIGHT: Speed isn’t always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
NINE: When you’re stressed, float awhile.
TEN: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
ELEVEN: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there’s always a rainbow waiting.
Have a good week!

Bum life day 2

Official bum life day 1 was yesterday and I spent it surfing the net and watching TV at Carpet Head’s wifi zone and cable ready pad. Woohoo. Today I did a little errand at the bank, surfed the net, and opted for a book instead of the TV. Woohoo. So productive. Yay me!

Okay, so I’m not used to being a bum. I was a bum for about a year right after college, but that was ages ago. I’ve forgotten how it is to not go to work on a weekday. Anyway, I do have a semblance of a plan and it does include scouring for a job and all that grown up stuff, but I think for now I’m trying to have a few no-plan days before I launch into my plan B.

Cleaning house, er, cube

It’s my last week and I’ve been trying to clean up my work area. Trying is the operative word. Seven years and 11 months (eep!) of being a corporate lackey means a four-drawer filing cabinet crammed full of files and reports, a whole desk of loose papers and what not, three drawers full of admin files and personal stuff, and almost 40gb of electronic work files. Whoa.

I started with the easiest thing to back up – the electronic files. I have about 40gb to back up because I’ve also been keeping the backups of 4 former colleagues. The easiest thing to do was to just create DVD backups. I managed to organize everything into 8 discs, which I need to label in a bit after I finish this post. Hello, procrastination.
