Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is fantastic

We watched Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them last weekend and holy crap it was awesome. I remember feeling so grateful for the creators and the technology for making the magic come alive onscreen and I was also thinking to myself how awesome it would be to live in that magical world. Yeah, I freakin’ loved it.

Watch eeeet: Stories I wish I had written [contains stuff about old movies]

There are times when you encounter a story that’s so trippy and interesting and totally something you dig, and you just can’t help but wish that you wrote that story or that you can write something as close to fantastic as that story. I mean, you know what I mean, right? It could be a book or a movie – anything really – that makes you wish you thought of it first.

I haven’t been much of a reader for the last year or so, so these fantastic stories I’m referring to are actually movies that I’ve seen in the last few months. Just a warning, this post may contain some spoilers so if you haven’t seen any of these films – do a quick scroll, hurry! – and don’t want to know what happens in these movies, I suggest you turn away from this post now. Turn away, friend, and save yourself from, er, spoilers about old movies. Amsorrehhh..

Girl Crush Friday: The very cool Léa Seydoux

Carpet Head and I watched Spectre on the same week we watched Mockingjay. I was going to do a post on both movies but decided they each deserve their own post. More importantly, the lovely Léa Seydoux deserves her own post. She is so captivating. I find that hers is not a conventional beauty, but she’s kind of gorgeous in her own unusual way and very intriguing. She has a face that stays in your mind.

About a Movie: Mockingjay Part 2

Carpet Head and I managed to go to the movies for two consecutive nights this week, thanks to the special holidays brought on by the APEC Summit. We watched Mockingjay Part 2 the first night and Spectre on the next. Woot. I was going to write about both movies, but I realized they deserve separate posts. So this one’s just about Mockingjay. Duh.

Why HELLO there, feelings. (Thanks, Adele)

The other day I finally listened to Hello by Adele. It may not have been the best of ideas to do so at this time of the month, but I did anyway and it was glorious. Of course, I proceeded to binge-listen to my favorite songs of hers. Her voice is insane. Her talent is insane. Her eye makeup is insane (I want eeeet!). I love her.

Are you on Spotify? Let’s listen to her magical voice together.

Girl Crush Friday: Actress, writer, and cool girl Brit Marling

I’m writing about Brit Marling because I just saw Another Earth recently and holy crap it was gewd. Before I get to that let me tell you about how I discovered Brit Marling.

The first time I saw Brit Marling was in The East, a movie I caught on cable some time last year I think. It’s one of those quiet, charged films that you either love or hate. It’s about an operative (played by Brit) of a private intelligence company and she goes undercover to infiltrate an anarchist group that’s been covertly attacking big corporations. It’s a pretty interesting movie – emotional, makes you think, makes you feel slightly rebellious even. I was intrigued by Brit Marling (and Ellen Page! But that’s for another post). Brit just has this interesting aura about her. I googled the movie and found out that she wrote the movie with the director Zal Batmanglij. Great, she’s not only a talented actress, but she writes, too. Hashtag girl crushhh.

Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady The Musical

Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady 2

Last Saturday Carpet Head and I had the chance to finally watch a musical together and it just happened to be an extremely awesome one: Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady The Musical (roughly translates to ‘How I became Leading Lady’). Our friends Tisha, JB and Che were sponsors of that Saturday’s show so there were a few of us from our ultimate team who watched.

Alphabetical Advice Challenge

I used to do writing challenges at my now defunct writing blog. This is a repost of one of my writing challenges from over two years ago. The writing prompt was to make a list of alphabetical advice. After I wrote the post, I realized that the tips or advice I wrote were things that I try to go by or would give to myself. Check them out.
