This is a post where I ramble about review rating systems and say MEH a lot

I don’t use any kind of rating system for my book reviews. I considered it once. I thought I should have some sort of numerical conclusion to my reviews, so I decided to use the rating system at Goodreads because it seemed pretty simple and easy to use. I even updated all my book reviews to reflect the rating. Less than ten minutes later I ended up taking it out. Meh.

I just don’t like doing those ratings. If I could skip it I would, but then most of you know you have to do them every time you post a review on Goodreads and Amazon. And I know it helps authors with their ratings, book sales and what not, so I don’t want to sacrifice a review just because I don’t like rating systems. Meh.

Additional 4 Feature Posts to the $25 Amazon Gift Card Giveaway

The response to my giveaway floored me. I am totally beside myself with joy. Ecstatic. Excited. Woot. I know, I’m new at this, but I really loved discovering new bloggers. That is why I’ve decided to add a little something to the giveaway. In addition to the $25 Amazon Gift Card winner, I want to give 4 bloggers a feature post each on my blog. Plus I’ll put his/her blog badge on my sidebar for the whole month of June if he/she wants. I don’t want to force anybody so any blogger who gets picked for this can decline and then we’ll just pick another one. Sound good? I’ve updated the Rafflecopter, so there’s no need to enter again if you’ve already put in entries. :)

Giveaway: 1 $25 Amazon Gift Card + 4 Feature Posts & Badge Space

How to acquire mad blog design skillz

You may have noticed that I changed my blog layout again. I tend to do that every couple of months or so. You see, I’m always trying to make it look easier on the eyes–mine and yours. And, yes, I do get bored with my blog layout A LOT.

Now, a web designer I am not, though that is definitely on my top 3 of things I want to be, right below published author and just above skilled seamstress. I don’t know how to design a blog or website from scratch, but I understand enough about html and I use what little knowledge I have to make a few tweaks here and there. See, you don’t need to be a web design wiz in order to come up with a nice and original-looking blog.

In this post, I’m going to let you in on my mad blog designing secrets by taking you through the process of how I ended up with this new blog design all by my-“non web designer”-self. *beam*

Travel hacking, location rebels, and other new words I learned this week

I spent most of the week reading about people who quit their 9-5 jobs, packed their stuff and became travel hackers and location independent self-sufficient people. Really interesting and inspiring stuff. Really distracting, too. I haven’t been so focused on work this week. I really should do more if I want to get more monies. I mean, I gotta remember that I’m on a no work-no pay thing here. I have ongoing jobs but I haven’t finished them yet and I’m nearing the deadline. GAH.
