Hello there!

White Sky Project is a blog about books mostly (usually fantasy and sci-fi, but sometimes thrillers, gothic and contemporary fiction, too). It’s also a blog about freelance writing, yoga, tarot, graphic tees (because I love the art!), movies, TV shows, and more. Welcome! I’m grateful you’re here. :) – xoxo, Leah

Book Sales are LOVE

Look at what I found at a book sale! The Complete Guide to Sewing! I got this big, heavy, hardbound baby for 290 bucks. Sweet.  This is really is it, people. I can see myself furiously sewing lotsa crap soon. As soon as I get myself a sewing machine. Soon. Like when I have time. And money.

The Legendeer Trilogy

Lookie at my latest find from the sale rack of National Bookstore! I got this book for only 200 bucks since it was on 50% off. Not bad, considering that it’s three books in one.

The Legendeer Trilogy by Alan Gibbons is actually for kiddies which made it a really easy read. I finished this book relatively quickly. The trilogy starts off with Shadow of the Minotaur, where Phoenix, our 14-year-old hero, discovers through a computer game called Shadow of the Minotaur that there’s a parallel world where myths and legends are real and heroes and evil are destined to battle. Phoenix also realizes that an evil force, the Gamemaster, is trying to open the gateway between that world and ours. Phoenix must play the game to stop the Gamemaster. Eentresting, yah?

Publishing on a custom domain

Whoa, I did it! Notice that my url doesn’t have blogspot anymore? I am now publishing on a custom domain! Woohoo. Anyway, I don’t know yet how this is going to change my blogging activities, but I like the thought of having my own dot com. I’ve been blogging on White Sky Project for a few years now, so I thought it was about time that I own it. I did my research, learned a few things, and finally took the plunge. Basically, here’s what I did.

Elections 2010

So I was very excited last Monday to vote for the first time. Lucky for me, my precint was located at the local school just two blocks away from my apartment. At 6:20am I was already at the school. They weren’t letting voters in yet so I waited outside the gate with my fellow eager beavers. At 7:45 they opened the gates and I went in and couldn’t find my cluster. I looked up and realized that I was at the high school when I was supposed to be at the elementary school.  Brilliant. Good thing the elementary school was just next door. So I went there, found my precint, and waited in line. I was number 24 so it took a few more minutes before I got to vote. By 8:00am, I was already walking home. Easy peasy.

Kick Ass really kicks ass

One fine Friday night, Carpet Head and I decided to watch a movie and the only one that fit our schedule was Kick Ass. We seriously thought we were going in to watch a kiddie superhero movie. We were SO WRONG. Kick Ass turned out to be humorous, action-packed, VIOLENT, and very entertaining. We’ve never heard of the comic, so I guess we really didn’t know what we were getting into. Think Ninja Assassin or Wanted type of violent. Definitely not for kiddies, kiddies.
