Privacy Policy

As the owner and author of White Sky Project, I respect your personal information and take your privacy extremely seriously. This policy explains the what, how, and why of any information collected when you visit this blog, comment on a post or subscribe to the newsletter.

Newsletter

White Sky Project uses Mailchimp to run the newsletter and getting on the mailing list requires an active opt-in and an email confirmation. When you sign up for the newsletter, your email address, IP address and/or your name are collected. The data is processed by Mailchimp and you can view their privacy policy and terms for yourself. There is a link to unsubscribe in each email if you want to be removed from the list.

Comments

When you leave a comment on any post, the data shown in the comments form are collected, as well as your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. You can check out Gravatar’s privacy policy if you’d like. After approval of your comment, your profile picture (if you have a Gravatar account) is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on this blog you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment.

Cookies can easily be disabled during your visit. You can also check for specific guides on how to to disable cookies on your browser.

Log Files

Like many other Web sites, White Sky Project makes use of log files. These files merely log you to the site – usually a standard procedure for hosting companies and a part of hosting services’ analytics. The information inside the log files includes your IP addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date/time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks.

This information is used to analyze trends, administer the site, track your movement around the site, and gather demographic information. IP addresses and other such information are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable to you.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this blog may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

White Sky Project or the owner of this blog has no access to or control over the behavior of embedded content from other websites.

Data collected from giveaways

For giveaways sponsored by White Sky Project, Rafflecopter is usually used to collect entries. Once the giveaway has ended and a winner has been chosen, they will be contacted via the method that they used on the Rafflecopter, either their Twitter account, Facebook account or email address. When the prize has been awarded, all the information that was collected via Rafflecopter are then deleted. Any of the data is never stored for longer than necessary and never used for any other purpose than intended.

White Sky Project participates in blog events (book promotions) with giveaways, but the collection of entries for these giveaways are managed by the tour host or sponsor. We have no access to the entries/data related to these giveaways. You can contact the tour host/sponsor of the giveaway if you have any concerns about these.

Sharing the data

White Sky Project does not engage in unauthorized sharing or selling of data to third-party entities.

How long your data is retained

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so the site can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Your rights over the data

If you have left comments on this blog or are subscribed to the newsletter, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided. You also have the right to ask for your data to be removed from the blog and to stop receiving emails. To do this you can either send an email or if you wish to stop receiving emails, you can click on the unsubscribe link on any email from White Sky Project.
