Privacy Policy

As the owner and author of White Sky Project, I respect your personal information and take your privacy extremely seriously. This policy explains the what, how, and why of any information collected when you visit this blog, comment on a post or when you subscribe to the newsletter.

I use Mailchimp to run my newsletter and getting on the mailing list requires an active opt-in and an email confirmation. When you sign up for the newsletter, your email address, IP address and/or your name are collected. The data is processed by Mailchimp and you can view their privacy policy and terms for yourself. There is a link to unsubscribe in each email if you want to be removed from the list.

When you leave a comment on any post, the data shown in the comments form are collected, as well as your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. You can check out Gravatar’s privacy policy if you’d like. After approval of your comment, your profile picture (if you have a Gravatar account) is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment on this blog you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Embedded content from other websites

Posts on this blog may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Data collected from giveaways

For giveaways sponsored by me, I usually use Rafflecopter to collect entries. Once the giveaway has ended and a winner has been chosen, they will be contacted via the method that they used on the Rafflecopter, either their Twitter account, Facebook account or email address. When the prize has been awarded, all the information that was collected via Rafflecopter are then deleted. I never store any of the data for longer than necessary and never use it for any other purpose than intended.

I participate in blog events (book promotions) with giveaways, but the collection of entries for these giveaways are managed by the tour host or sponsor. I have no access to the entries/data related to these giveaways. You can contact the tour host/sponsor of the giveaway if you have any concerns about these.

Sharing the data

Any data collected from this blog has never been and will never be shared with or sold to any third parties. Your data is accessed by me, Leah, the main account holder for the blog. I am the only person that has access to the data you provide when you comment on a post or sign up for the newsletter.

How long your data is retained

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so the site can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Your rights over the data

If you have left comments on this blog or are subscribed to the newsletter, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided. You also have the right to ask for your data to be removed from the blog and for me to stop sending you emails. To do this you can either send me an email or if you wish to stop receiving my emails, you can click on the unsubscribe link on any email from White Sky Project.

Changes to this privacy policy

As owner of White Sky Project, I have the discretion to update this privacy policy at any time. When I do, I will revise the updated date at the bottom of this page. I encourage users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how I take the necessary steps to protect the personal information collected. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this privacy policy periodically and become aware of modifications.

Your acceptance of these terms

By visiting and using this site, you signify your acceptance of this privacy policy. If you do not agree to this policy, please do not use this site. Your continued use of the site following the posting of changes to this policy will be deemed your acceptance of those changes.

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, the practices of this site, or your dealings with this site, please don’t hesitate to send me an email.
