Girls Weekend Getaway: Bantayan Island, Cebu

I flew out to Cebu the other weekend to hang out with my girlfriends for our “not always annual but we try” annual girls weekend getaway. We went to Bantayan Island, which has one of the most gorgeous beaches in the country (and the world!).

The weekend was a blast, as usual. You know how it is when you meet up with your long time friends, right? Anytime you get together it’s pretty much all laughs and crazy antics. And we were all due for some much-needed girl time and beach fix, so it was a great vacay from our usual lives.

Anyway, now I shall ramble and share some photos, yeah? Fair warning: this post turned out suuuper long. ;)

Girls Weekend Getaway: Camiguin

Paras resort 2

Just a few days after Carpet Head and I arrived from our Euro trip, I was off to another adventure! This time it was to somewhere close to my hometown and with people dear to my heart. Last week, I flew out to my hometown Cagayan de Oro (CDO) where I met up with my soul sisters and we hopped off to the amazingly beautiful island of Camiguin! YAYYYY.

Some years back, my friends and I decided that we should organize an out-of-town girls getaway each year. We don’t always get to go out of town and we’re never complete because, you know, LIFE HAPPENS (a.k.a. weddings, babies, etc.), but we’ve had a few awesome trips. We’ve been to Cebu, Boracay and Puerto Princesa, and it’s been a couple of years since we’ve gone out of town so we’ve been planning this trip for a while.

Boracay Open 2015: Sun, sand, sea, and ultimate

Boracay White Beach

Every year since 2009, the Ultimate Warriors have joined the annual Boracay Open International Beach Ultimate Competition and, this year, for the third time in a row, we made it to the finals in Pool B. Woot.

The first time we made it to the finals, we lost to DUO, the club team from UP Diliman. Last year, we won against the Sexual Harassment Panda Experience, a team of players from different parts of the globe. This year, we were up against another Manila team, Pancakes. Unfortunately, we didn’t win this one, but, hey, this is our third year in the finals! Plus two of our players won individual awards! Carpet Head bagged a spot on the Mythical 4 for Pool B, while Ced (who plays for DUO which didn’t field a team this year) bagged the Finals MVP award for Pool B. YAYYYY.

A weekend at Lagen Island, El Nido Resorts

Featured image from www.elnidoresorts.com

Got a few minutes? Good, ’cause this is a really long one. We had a five-day weekend in Manila when the Pope visited the country last month. Carpet Head and I decided to take advantage of this long weekend and go away somewhere nice. We saw a list of top 10 beautiful resorts in the Philippines (for the life of me I can’t remember the link now) and we decided to go to Lagen Island El Nido Resorts in Palawan. Gorgeous place, I tell you. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but it’s a beautiful, BEAUTIFUL place. I cannot say that enough.

There are two ways to get to El Nido from Manila. One is to take a flight via Island Transvoyager Inc. to Lio Airport in El Nido and then take a boat to the island resort you’re booked in. Another way is to take a commercial flight to Puerto Princesa, take a six-hour ride to El Nido and then take the boat to the island. Carpet Head and I decided that we didn’t want the stress of a six-hour land trip so we got the 3 PM chartered flight on Friday afternoon.

The Circle Hostel, La Union

This is a really late post. Last February, I got to visit La Union for the second time. The first time was with the Warriors back in 2007.  This time I went with a different bunch of my frisbee teammates to play ultimate and have some fun under the sun. Carpet Head had a thing during that weekend so that was actually the first time I went out of town for frisbee without him. Pretty exciting stuff. Hah. Actually, I wanted to go because the poster said a lot of pretty cool bands would be playing at the party. That turned out to be a faker because none of those bands showed up. Apparently, there was some sort of misunderstanding or what not and it was a different set of performers who went onstage. No biggie though, we still had fun.

Not So Typical Weekend at the Beach (a.k.a. The Weekend I Got Engaged)

So last weekend, I was at one of the most beautiful beaches in the world–Boracay. Played some kickass ultimate, hung out with awesome friends, and, you know, GOT ENGAGED to my Carpet Head. Woot. ;)

First, a quick backstory. Carpet Head and I met sometime in 2008 because of ultimate. One of my teammates invited him to play and he became part of the team (he became team captain later on, by the way). In 2009, my team joined the annual Boracay Open for the first time. Apparently, I looked fabulous in my bikini because I caught his eye. Hah. We started going out after that and eventually became a couple.

The Proposal happened during one of our games in this year’s Boracay Open. Carpet Head conspired with most of our teammates plus some of the guys from the other team. They switched the game disc for a “special” one. Carpet Head made a scoring pass to me. One of our teammates told me to flip the disc over. Guess what was written at the back? Next thing I knew, Carpet Head was on his knee and we were surrounded by friends and spectators. Of course, I had to say yes!

Yayyyyyyyyy!! That is all. :)
