Book Spotlight & Guest Post: The Holden Age of Hollywood by Phil Brody

Today we have a guest post by Phil Brody, author of The Holden Age of Hollywood. Phil Brody’s The Holden Age of Hollywood is at once a detective novel, an unexpected love story, and a provocative exposé of a broken industry. With dark humor and incisive commentary, the novel immerses readers in a neo-noir quest to attain the Hollywood dream, integrity intact.

Guest Review: The Stranger by Albert Camus

Today I have a guest review by Katheryn Rivas! Here she talks about The Stranger by Albert Camus. I have to admit I wasn’t familiar with this book until this guest review, but it’s now on my list. It had me on existentialism.

About the book
Through the story of an ordinary man unwittingly drawn into a senseless murder on an Algerian beach, Camus explored what he termed “the nakedness of man faced with the absurd.” First published in English in 1946.

Guest Post: The 3 Prettiest Films

Hey, it’s been ages since I posted about movies. Admittedly, Carpet Head and I haven’t been going to the cinemas as often as we used to. We’ve been having too much fun staying in and just watching TV or DVDs. Of course, we did manage to catch the must-see ones. You know which ones I’m talking about. The last three movies we watched together were The Avengers, The Amazing Spiderman and The Dark Knight Rises–all totally EPIC, incredibly AWESOME, and INSANE.

Why yes, I enjoyed them immensely, how’d you guess? I can’t say how much these movies ruled, especially the last two, but I’m not going to go raving about them now. Right now I turn over the floor–er, blog–to Samantha, who is my awesome guest today. Read about her top 3 prettiest (and awesome) films. Take it away, Sam. (Can I call you, Sam?)

Meet A Blogger Today! Say Hi to Ashley of booknook!

Today we have Ashley of booknook! Say hi! :) – Leah

Thanks so much to Leah for giving me the opportunity to write this guest post!

My name is Ashley and I own a book blog called booknook. My blog is still fairly new. I created it on April 11th 2012 as a way to document the books I read and jot down my thoughts about each one.

When I first decided to make the blog, I had no idea what the book blogging world was like. I didn’t realize that there was such an amazing and friendly blogging community out there! So while I originally just intended to jot down my thoughts about books, this has since proven to be a more rewarding experience than I imagined!
