Hi! Thanks for sharing your experience. Wow, the first two books got to you fast! I hope the rest arrive soon!

Anyway, same, I still like BD for books that are cheaper and hard to find here in PH. I really just wish our postal system was better in terms of delivering mail and parcels and all that.

Hi! I ordered 5 books from BD last Sep 30 this year and after more than a week, I was informed via email that 4 of my books were already dispatched and 1 was refunded. Around 2nd of Oct, 2 of my books were delivered by Philpost and I paid 112php for each book. The courier said it's for the custom fee. And fast-forward now, Oct 24. I'm still waiting for the 2 remaining books. Unfortunately, despite the all the nega-feedbacks of the delivery status from BD, I still ordered additional 6 more books since they are really cheaper and only available from their site. So, there you have it...wish me luck also :)

Hi, Kayte!

As far as I know, Book Depository sends orders via standard mail which routes through the local postal system of the recipient country. You’ll get your book(s) via the local post.

If you happen to be in the Philippines, you’ll either receive a parcel notice to pick up your book(s) or the parcel gets delivered straight to your address. I’ve been hearing different reports of how people are getting their BD orders these days, so I can’t say for sure.

Hope your book gets to you safely!

Hello! I've just heard about Book Depository and I actually do not know how they work (who delivers for them? would they deliver door-to-door?). I've won a giveaway from bookstagram and the host of the giveaway just recently ordered my book, all I gave her was my address. And she sent me a screenshot of the order number. I'm worried that my book won't arrive. Is there anything I can do to ensure that my book will arrive to me?

Hi,

It's okay. This helps actually because my usual experience in Book Depository is they deliver it door-to-door. But I recently moved out of our home address and this is my first time ordering again from BD using my new address so I am not sure if they will still deliver it right to my front door.

I already emailed BD and said that I have the option for free replacement or full refund. I just hope the books will arrive this time.

Thank you very much!

Hi, Julie!

I have never received any email from the post office about my packages from Book Depository (or for any package, for that matter), but then again the last time I had any interaction with the post office was in October 2020 (the post above).

I don't know about "custom fees," but I have only had to pay the Php 112 fee upon pickup of my parcel (last time I did that was in October 2020). Maybe that's the custom fee they're referring to? I really am not sure. Maybe you can ask them for the breakdown? Sorry, I'm not much help. Hope this gets sorted for you soon.

Please allow myself to share my experience with similar book sites just like Book Depository. I ordered my books at World Better Books on December 3,2020. I took me 6 months to receive my orders from them. Maybe of the current situation right now why my orders took to long to ship. I would like to share my tips to you if you are planning to buy book stuffs abroad, first is that you must be aware where is your local post office is located. This will easy to you to know if you are going to ask about your package. Second is, ask your local post master for their office phone number in case if you like to reach them out and ask them if there is packaged for you. Third, the most important tip, prepare yourself from the storage fees or whatever custom tax from Philpost. You need to allocate money for your orders. If the books you have ordered come into one package then you need to pay Php 112 ,regardless of how many books in one parcel. If you have ordered books separate, you need to pay Php 112 each books.

Also, being friendly to your local postmaster is a great way to get your package (Joking...)
Stay safe fellows!!!

Hi, Grace!

Yikes. I've never been asked for a delivery fee from Philpost. Did that happen recently? Is that supposed to be in lieu of you personally picking up your package at their office? I haven't had any interaction with the local post office since Aug 2020, so I don't know if that's something new for international parcels. That's a little weird though. I thought that was part of their job. I hope you get that sorted out soon. :(
